Based in Durham, OakleyThompson is a specialist PSV and HGV training provider and IMI-accredited centre.

They deliver a wide range of technical and driver-focused courses, from irtec inspection accreditations to bespoke training programmes tailored to employer needs.

With a strong emphasis on real-world, workshop-based learning, OakleyThompson supports both new entrants and experienced professionals in developing practical skills, maintaining compliance and advancing their careers across the commercial vehicle industry.

OakleyThompson Operations and Training Director Andy Oakley said they were excited to partner with SOE to support a shared ambition to raise standards and provide clear, practical pathways for skills development in the road transport sector.

“At OakleyThompson, our focus has always been on delivering training that reflects real working environments,” he said.

“Partnering with SOE strengthens that commitment, helping ensure the standards we train to are aligned with the wider industry and continue to move it forward.”

SOE Head of Operations Alex Clifton said the partnership highlights the value of collaboration between industry bodies and specialist training providers in supporting workforce development across the sector.

“By working with organisations like OakleyThompson, we can continue strengthening our commitment to professional standards, technical competency and accessible training pathways for engineers and technicians across the industry,” he said.

“OakleyThompson have a unique offering in that they also support technicians in their transition from HGV to PSV, which is a great initiative for our industry.”
