Join us for an insightful and timely technical presentation on Unmanned Air Systems (UAS), commonly referred to as drones.

The evening will be led by Nigel Turner, Chartered Mechanical Engineer, who brings 26 years of service with the Royal Air Force, followed by an extensive career as a consultant Airworthiness and Safety Engineer, working predominantly with the Ministry of Defence.

Nigel will begin by outlining the definitions and core components of an Unmanned Air System, before examining the UK military UAS inventory and its operational role. The talk will then explore current and potential future roles for UAS, concluding with a discussion on the significant challenges associated with integrating unmanned systems into UK airspace, particularly from an airworthiness and safety perspective.

This presentation will be of considerable interest to engineers and aviation professionals, and is especially relevant given the rapidly evolving role of UAS in today’s defence and civil aviation environments.
