Join the Brunel and Wiltshire Regional Group for a fascinating day out at one of Britain’s most iconic historic ships — the SS Great Britain. The visit will begin promptly at 10:00 AM with a one-hour guided tour of the ship, where participants will gain a unique insight into life on board during the vessel’s time at sea. The tour will explore both passenger and crew experiences, bringing to life the conditions, challenges, and innovations of Victorian maritime travel.
Following the tour, guests will attend a 30–45 minute talk at the Brunel Institute. This engaging session will delve deeper into the stories behind key artifacts and provide exclusive access to items from the archive that are not normally on public display — a rare opportunity to explore the hidden history behind this remarkable ship.
After the scheduled activities, attendees are free to explore the wider museum at their own pace. The site offers a rich variety of exhibits, including the dry dock, Dockyard Museum, and interactive displays.
For refreshments, the Harbourside Kitchen café will be open throughout the day, offering a selection of light meals, snacks, and drinks.
